Nick and I dated throughout our junior and senior years of high school, continued through college, spent some time apart, then reconnected and dated for about two more years before he proposed this last Valentine’s Day! He planned the sweetest day for us! We went to a coffee shop in a small town that we found together and have enjoyed going to for lattes and lunch. Then we headed back to Rochester, got ready for a workout class at a studio that i belong to that was a girl/guy version, and later drove (through a snowstorm!) to one of our favorite restaurants (owned by our friend) in Kasson, MN , called Hidden Pines. In the winter they have two igloos that they set up that you can rent to have a fun dining experience. Nick rented one of the igloos for us so that we could an evening just to us and it was so magical! When we got there there was a beautiful bouquet of hot pink roses (my favorite!) and a gift bag waiting for me. At that time we had recently gone on a ski trip to Big Sky, Montana, and Nick had me pick out a nice pair of ski mittens for Valentine's Day- so I thought I knew exactly what was in that bag. After dinner and dessert, the restaurant had cleared out except for our friends, the owners. At this point I hadn't opened my gift and was trying to get us to get going, but Nick insisted I open the gift and read his card. After I finished reading, he got down on one knee and proposed!! (Our friends actually caught the whole thing on video!) so that we will have that memory forever!
