A dreamy Homestead, MI wedding filled with love, laughter, and scenic countryside moments.

Aly moved to California and ended up starting an acting class Jakob was already in. It was right after Covid so still mask time, Jakob had a funny clown mask and I liked his hair, once he got up to do a scene I loved his smile. He slowly made excuses to talk to me, which I was oblivious to but just enjoyed the convos. We ended up going on a little yogurt date before class December 1st ( I again was oblivious) continued talking and on our second date I actually realized it was a date when he asked to kiss me. Since then we’ve been going on adventures together. One of those was for my birthday and he planned a surprise bnb with our own pool because I just wanted to swim, had a amazing birthday swimming and enjoying the pool, he said I had to wait on my last present for the next day ( again oblivious, I was like okay ). The next morning, still in pjs, we were going to go sit outside but I was like wait we need our bathing suits on, Jakob smiled and was like okay we changed and went outside I was just enjoying the view while he discreetly set up the go pro to capture the moment, and said we were ready and I walked in the opposite direction. Once he got me in the right area he had our song playing (Banks by NEEDTOBREATHE) and I opened the box to his engagement ring and he went down to a knee.
We both love films and videos and watching our old videos from growing up, but both don’t have as many as we would like necessarily. Aly has also enjoyed making videos of family and putting them together and editing them just to be able to look back and remember memories and days and laugh and smile and get all those happy feelings and emotions back, so capturing the wedding day, which is going to be our only wedding and then being able to look back on the video years down the line just remembering the day and how much fun it was and really be able to relive it in a way. As well as being able to share the video with any family members that were not able to make the travel out. A lesser reason but one that pops in Alys head now is unfortunately dementia seems to run in the family and so having a video to be able to watch and maybe help with memory down the line would be fun.
The photo and video examples on the Instagram page looked beautiful and seem to change with each couple to really accentuate a different vibe and so we feel as though you guys would be able to actually capture our vibe in the video and photos and it just more feel like us rather than photos or just another elegant video. Because we are not the most elegant and we definitely have a different vibe that we feel you guys would be able to help capture and give us space to feel comfortable in. As well as looking at the teams, individual photos and Chris’s story on his journey to doing wedding photography seems very genuine and like a good person who would have good vibes themselves. Aly is big on feeling out the vibes lol
Jakob works from home for a market research company. Aly was working in schools and severe autism classrooms helping with behaviors before we moved to Michigan. Creativity is very important to both of us artistically visually pretty much any aspect of art we like to dabble in we are both very adventurous and outdoorsy we like to hike we like nature, fishing, skateboarding, bike rides, rollerblades, unicycles, one wheels, very outdoorsy, we want to be able to have a farm and buy land and have our animals and the space to be able to make four-wheel tracks or a dirtbike track and have art rooms to be able to paint or do pottery. We both also want to preserve us and do things for ourselves and make us happy not necessarily the “norm” on the daily, we have our shows like Bob’s Burgers that we enjoy watching we enjoy watching movies playing with our dog video games at times and right now spending time outside enjoying the new backyard.
We wanted somewhere affordable. It is a very big day, but it is a day. We don’t need to drop a bunch of money on a venue and then be struggling after we wanted to be able to find a beautiful venue that was affordable and had a outdoorsy vibe to it so the ceremony being on the beach just had a beautiful view in the pictures and One of the rivers nearby has otter in the name and Aly loves otters. And for the reception, the Homestead was just very beautiful and had some of the wood finishes that we were looking for and also happened to be affordable. Affordability was a big factor and then also just making sure it had a fun outdoorsy vibe that kind of fit us. We wanted to be able to spend less on the venues and such and be able to have a longer honeymoon.
Mainly a chill experience, fun, laid-back vibe not a very serious wedding that super on time crunch or doing rehearsals and things. We don’t want it to be stressful so we want it all to be very laid-back and just a day to celebrate the fact that our very silly selves found another silly person to be able to be be silly with for the rest of our lives.
