About the Couple

The Proposal

How We Met (Jake’s Perspective):

Our story begins in the most unexpected way. Felicia hails from a tiny town called Homer, in the rugged wilderness of Alaska, while I come from the small, quiet town of Delton, Michigan. It was during my second year at the Radiant School of Ministry that our paths crossed—but not in a typical encounter. It was as if the Lord Himself had sent a special letter just for Felicia, because I still wonder how she found the school online, decided it was worth leaving behind her family of fifteen, and traveled all the way to Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Although we didn't meet immediately, we knew of each other—at least by name—long before our eyes finally met. It wasn’t until after a local outreach event that things changed. That night, Felicia caught my eye, and I found myself drawn to her every move. The setting was downtown Kalamazoo—late at night, a safer choice for walking back to our cars. As part of the plan, I partnered with her, walking her to her vehicle. She was sharing her testimony—a moment she described as the first time she led someone to the Lord. I watched her pour her heart out, her passion for the lost shining brightly through her tears.

She cried after sharing her story, and I felt compelled to do something I wouldn’t normally do—I asked if she wanted a hug. She nodded, and I held her as she cried, our hearts quietly exchanging words in the silence. We sat on the street corner, sharing stories and playing our favorite worship songs while gazing up at the starry sky. That night, something shifted inside me.

Back at her car, we kept talking, but that moment—simple yet profound—became the first of many. From that night on, I knew I had found something worth holding onto forever.

Proposal Story (Jake’s Perspective):

Proposing in Tangier, Morocco—about 5,500 miles from Homer, Alaska—was no small feat. The plan had been simmering for months: I was flying to Alaska to spend Christmas with Felicia’s family. Every year, her family gathers on Christmas Eve for what I knew would be the perfect moment to pop the question.

But how? I had countless ideas, yet none seemed quite right—until the night before Christmas. Felicia, her sister, her dad, and I had spent hours working together, carrying sheets of drywall in a makeshift team effort. We were working in shifts, plotting and whispering in between. That’s when an idea took shape—a rigged raffle where Felicia was guaranteed to win the grand prize: the ring.

Despite the nerves and the fear of everything going wrong, I knew this plan was right. Surrounded by her extended family—too many to count—I watched her face light up as her name was called. She opened the box and saw a note: “Felicia, it’s Jake. I have a question for you.” Then, I pulled the ring from my pocket, dropped to one knee, and asked the question that had been on my heart for so long.

Her tears of joy spoke more than words ever could. She said yes, and just like that, our journey toward forever officially began. The wedding planning kicked into high gear, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the incredible love we share—a love that started in the stars, grew through tears, and will carry us into eternity.

Why do you want to capture your wedding on video?

I remember watching my mom and dads wedding video. They were surrounded by the people they loved, and it showed moments between them that left no question as to why they were together. I was so clear. They loved each other. For each other. I want to give my children the same feeling, but for myself I want to be able to look back at the video and be able to remember when I don't have the strength to do it on my own, and remember why I said I DO to this beautiful person in the first place. I want to capture the passions that have carried us to the moment where we both said I do for forever. I don't want that moment to be lost in fading memories.

Why did you choose us?

We see from your work that it's clear how you're able to capture more than just color and depth. You capture the emotion, in a way that can be relived every time you look at your pictures. When we look at you work we see excellence, and we see that it's more than just "another wedding" to you. You take pride in what you do because what you do is what you love. We're very excited to let you do what you love for us. Practically, we love how you capture the light in pictures. You make your pictures look like beautiful memories that deserve to last.

You guys? …What do you do?..How do you spend your days?.. What’s important in life?

Honestly, our relationship has often felt like a battle—an ongoing fight to rebuild and strengthen it amidst countless circumstances that threaten to hinder our growth. The moments we’ve shared together—though few—are treasures to me, because our time has been so limited. Still, each of those moments has been deeply meaningful.

Felicia and I share nearly identical core values. We align closely in what we believe and hold dear. However, our hobbies sometimes diverge, revealing our different spirits.

Felicia finds joy in creation—birds, trees, clouds, mountains, the ocean, and the symphony of sounds around her. She loves her family with the deepest passion, cherishing stability above all else. Her greatest comfort comes from feeling safe at home, surrounded by loved ones, knowing that no matter where life takes her, home will always be where her heart is. If she had her way, she’d spend her days in a cozy room, with a few loved ones, a piano softly playing, candlelight flickering, and warmth wrapping her in love.

As for me, I thrive on movement. I enjoy challenges and constant self-improvement—whether through new hobbies or mastering familiar ones. I love surrounding myself with people, learning from their strengths, and pushing myself to grow beyond my limits. I crave order because it brings clarity and peace, and I find joy in making others laugh. To me, competence is beautiful, and I deeply value a life filled with purpose and joy.

Together, we revel in creativity—building something beautiful, creating environments for others to enjoy, feeling alive and free in the open air. We love water—swimming, being in or near it—an extension of life, renewal, and joy. We cherish family, dressing up for special moments, sharing music through piano instrumentals, and feeling the rhythm of life as we listen. We love planning meticulously and dreaming of a secure future.

Above all, our greatest desire is for Jesus to be at the center of everything we do. No matter what challenges appear along the way, we believe nothing can overshadow the unbreakable bond we share through Christ. His love and grace are the foundation of our lives, and with Him, we are confident that anything coming against us will never be stronger than the love we have in Jesus Christ.

The Venue. Why did you choose it above anywhere else?

Home is so important to Felicia. The homestead where we're getting married is a breeding ground for some of Felicia's most joyous memories. a lot of Felicia's childhood was spent looking forward to summer camp happening at the homestead. Our life together starting from such a beautiful place that is so close to Felicia's heart is such a blessing. On top of that some of Felicia's family has already shared this place for their weddings, and it will be so special to be added to the ever growing list of people getting married on these sacred grounds.

What experience do you want to give to your guests?

We want them to feel special and we want them specifically to know that they are the most important people to us. We want to extend a hand of gratitude for the support and love that has shaped us to be the man and woman who are coming together on this day. We want them to know that without their love, we would not be standing together celebrating this moment. In simpler terms. We want them to feel us say "thank you."
