A romantic Maplehurst Farm wedding in Washington surrounded by scenic views and timeless charm.

How we met: It was just another powder day skiing with friends at Crystal Mountain. Sawyer was skiing a great line off Chair 6 when this girl "yard saled" in front of him. He helped her get back on her skis and she stumbled through introducing herself... If only the above were true for Sawyer, instead it was him that crashed in front of her the first day they met. Sawyer planned on going skiing with three buddies, however one of the guys connected his group with two girls from church. They all met at the mountain, and Sawyer was immediately curious as to who Danelle was. That morning Sawyer quickly learned Danelle's goofy side when she pulled out a crown with a frozen Gatorade chew, her toughness when she shoved it back in, and her stubbornness to not quit on the day from it. As the day progressed, they were both impressed at how great of skiers each other were. By the afternoon Sawyer "somehow" found himself in the lift line next to Danelle for a two-person chairlift called Chair 6. He got to learn more about who she was and her passion for telling others about Jesus, while she asked him how long he had been skiing for. This was Sawyer's 25th winter skiing/snowboarding. Quickly thereafter, when they went to get off the lift Sawyer found himself doing a full somersault. They both broke into laughter as he quickly got back upright and attempted to continue the conversation. Needless to say, Sawyer quite literally fell for this beautiful blonde hair, blue eyed, Jesus loving, silly, athletic, and passionate woman of God. Twice Danelle asked Sawyer to go ski with her again, where he did his best to stay on top of his skis. A few weeks later they found themselves on the same mission trip to Dubai where they got to spend nine days amongst six other church friends spreading the Gospel and getting to know each other as friends. Prior to leaving Dubai Sawyer was able to build up the confidence to ask Danelle on a date when they returned to Seattle. Of course, the date was a ski date followed by dinner. Ever since, it has been adventure after adventure by each other's side!
How Sawyer proposed: Danelle had mentioned she dreamed of three things upon their engagement: 1. a surprise, 2. out in nature, and 3. a party. The only realistic surprise date he could think of was to spoil Danelle and Hillary's day. Unknowingly, Danelle to a tee was planning her own engagement with Hillary that Sawyer planned with Hillary. Meanwhile, Sawyer had set up a team of Danelle's best friends and sisters to coordinate the surprise party plans. Fast forward to the day of and God sure did bring the plan to a peak with weather that felt like summer. As Hillary was on lookout, she saw Sawyer and turned herself and Danelle to face the falls so that Sawyer could approach for the surprise. Danelle turned and was in shock to see Sawyer there, where he then proposed! Danelle with so much excitement, jumping up and down said yes! Meanwhile, Sawyer told Danelle he had dinner reservations for them that evening, so they celebrated for a bit at the ski resort and then headed back to Danelle's house to get ready for dinner. As they proceeded to the house, they were met by the surprise of many friends and family to celebrate the engagement! Danelle was surprised all day long as she had no idea it would be THAT day and they both soaked up the surreal day together!
We want to capture our wedding on photos and video, because we want to be able to look back on memories and big moments together. Also, we would love to share them with family and friends that attend, and those that regretfully are unable to. Plus, the joy one day to show future family the story of the day. To have both photos that become timeless stories and a video to relive the moments would be our greatest request.
We chose you 1. for the quality we see in the products you have provided to other couples and 2. for you choosing us after Danelle was selected for your giveaway. We see that you want to capture a couple's monumental day in their wedding while finding a way to incorporate their story into the details.
Danelle works in sales and Sawyer works in law enforcement, so work keeps both of us busy. Normal days look like work plus gym time, while finding time to eat with friends or a date night. Danelle leads an outreach team through our church on Tuesday nights and Sawyer helps lead a men's group on Wednesday mornings. When there aren't church activities or work-related travels and events Sawyer and Danelle find themselves filling their time with whatever activities the seasons present. In the summer you can find them paddle boarding, hiking, backpacking, and spending time on the lake waterskiing. In the fall you can find Sawyer hunting or the two hosting friends for fire hangouts and college football games, Go Vols. In the winter you can find both of us skiing through springtime. Lastly, in the spring you can find us trying to mix in a wide variety of activities depending on what the weather presents from skiing to paddleboarding, or time inside watching a movie due to rain. We don't do much tv entertainment, but when we do find us watching Survivor. Also, we try our best to prioritize travel and time with friends, so making trips periodically keeps us looking forward to what's ahead on the calendar.
We chose the venue because it had everything we needed and wanted. It is a farm style, barn with outdoor space venue. So, plenty of room for our guests and beautiful scenery around. There is a mix of both the farm and the mountains in the background. To top it off, it is near Danelle's family cabin. The space will provide both a destination wedding for some as many will travel to the PNW to see more than just the wedding, and a local wedding for many that are in our circle in Seattle.
We want to give our guests the best experience possible. We want them to stick around as long as they can to celebrate with us and hope that many partake in the scheduled reception activities like dancing. We also hope that they're able to see this wedding as a time where God brings community together and they are a part of His story in us for a reason.
