About the Couple

The Proposal

Our story begins at Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX where we both attended and played soccer for 4 years. With a student body population of only 1,500 students, our paths never really crossed during that time. While it felt like we knew everyone, the one person we each didn't know, ended up becoming the most important person in each of our lives.

It wasn't until Kiara graduated and Jake became a senior that we officially met through some mutual friends. In a world that felt so small, it was just a hair too big, which allowed us to meet at just the right time. Crazy how God's timing works, right?

Since then, we've been together for 6 sweet years. In that time we've learned how to adult (kind of), made countless memories, bought our first home in Georgetown, and got engaged in Lake Tahoe, California!

We share our home with a very fluffy and talkative husky named Maya, who keeps things interesting, to say the least. Some of our favorite things include spending time with friends and family, going to the movies, lake days, and exploring new places together.

Why do you want to capture your wedding on video?

We want to capture our wedding wedding day on photos and videos to be able to look back on such precious memories. Initially due to budget we were primarily just looking at photos that would feel like a movie. We really enjoy the cinematic, romantic and warm feelings that would come from looking at our memories. Kiara really enjoys doing film photography on the side and would love for some of the photos to have that nostalgic feel.

Video was definitely always something we wanted. We just weren’t sure we could accommodate to it thankfully we were able to with y’all, thanks! Video really gives us that extra something. We can not only remember but see ourselves, family and friends on that special day. We can see our parents dancing. We can hear our grandparents laugh. We can feel all the emotions that the wedding day actually encompassed and we’re really excited to be able to rewatch that time and time again.

We really want our photos and videos, too bring smiles to our face. Let us be able to relive those memories in terms of aesthetics we like natural light, natural, warm vibes. Both documentary and cinematic with some traditional portraits as well.

We chose Topher Films not only for your kind personalities and generosity but also for your talent. Your videos are what drew us in most, and after looking at galleries for photography, we knew we could get everything we wanted through y’all. Thank you again.

You guys? …What do you do?..How do you spend your days?.. What’s important in life?

Kiara: I’m a nurse I work in the NICU (neonatal ICU). I work in the hospital so lots of 12 hour shifts. The days are long, but they are also rewarding!
Jake: I work in sales for a software company. Im an account manager. I work with all of our current clients and try to keep them happy!

What’s most important to us is each other, our families, our husky and our friends! We value relationships and experiences.

The Venue. Why did you choose it above anywhere else?

We chose this venue because we wanted our wedding to be more of a weekend experience instead of a one-night event. We love Fredericksburg, and this venue allows us have weekend with family and friends in one of our favorite Texas towns.

Also, we love the scenery of the Texas hill-country and this location provides that for us. As mentioned before, we love being outside and surrounded by nature.

This venue also has a number of ceremony sites, as well as a beautiful bar that we both fell in love with.
