Elegant wedding at Academy Christian Church in Colorado, featuring timeless moments in a beautiful chapel setting.
We met at our best friends' wedding! Heather was the maid of honor and Burk was a groomsman. He
asked her to dance on the dance floor, and they connected instantly. We spent about a year doing
long distance before Heather moved from Washington to Colorado. We met in August 2022, got
engaged April 2023, and Heather moved in June so we could get married in an intimate family
ceremony on Burk's family's cattle ranch in August 2023. He had proposed to her in the same spot we
were planning our ceremony for, so it made it extra special.
I (Heather) personally don't have that great of a memory, so I've always adored having videos of
important life moments, so having this is guaranteed going to be replayed over and over throughout
our marriage together. For example, I watched the haphazardly-filmed video of our first dance at our
friends' wedding about 200 times minimum in the first two months of us dating, lol.
I (Burk) just think it captures so much more personality than photos, and we (our bridal party and us)
are all so expressive (and weird) that we want a more dynamic way to capture it all.
I (Heather) have been following Topher Films for a while on Instagram and I had literally been praying the
night before I reached out that we could have an opportunity that would allow us to afford both
photo and video. We originally could only afford photos but we really wanted video still, so finding the
giveaway was a prayer very directly answered and a dream come true.
Heather works as a kids and youth minister at our church, and loves painting, making sourdough
bread, singing in choir with Burk, reading, and playing board games with friends in her free time. Burk
works as a 911 dispatcher for his day job but would much rather spend his time working on his
theology-based podcast that he's in development for. He also loves going to the gym, hunting, fishing,
camping, reading, learning about history and all the ways the world works. He and Heather bonded
over their love of theatre!
Honestly, the first reason was because it's essentially free for us since Heather's dad is a pastor in the Academy Christian Church. We got to choose between their two campuses and we chose this one because it has beautiful stained glass doors and wooden architecture. There's also some beautiful staircases that
we're excited to have for photos and stuff. We'll make the not so beautiful basement beautiful in
exchange for it as the rest of it lends to our design style.
Cozy and intimate for the ceremony, despite how many people will be there. It'll be deep and
meaningful as we're both serious individuals when it comes to the covenant of marriage, but we're
also very serious partiers, so it'll be a blast more towards the end of the night.
